PATRICE EVRA says even he will be booing Carlos Tevez if the striker plays in the Manchester derby.
City new-boy Tevez is battling to recover from a knee injury to face his former club United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
But Evra says he can expect a tough reception - and not just from the home crowd.
The United defender said: "The fans loved him. I don't know if they will boo him or clap him but, anyway, I said to him, 'If they boo you, I will boo as well with the fans!
"We have been joking a bit on the texts. He told me they are coming to win here.
"I'll wait for the reception he gets from the United fans but I think Carlito will do a great job for Manchester City."
Evra admits he went to great lengths to persuade Tevez to accept a contract with United in the summer after his loan deal had finished.
But the Argentine felt he had been messed about and went to City instead.
Evra said: "I was surprised he left and a little bit angry about it.
"He's a friend and was a great player for Manchester United and when you lose a great player it can be difficult to accept.
“I expect to have a good reception. While at United, I always gave my best and I had good relations with the fans. They know I did everything while at Old Trafford to try to score the goals that would help the team win matches, so I don’t know why I should have a bad reception. What will I do if I score a goal? Well, I will be glad, but I don’t think too much about that right now. The important thing is that Manchester City win the game. If I don’t score, but we can get the three points, I will be very happy.”
